when you say return on sales are you reffering to net

when you say return on sales are you reffering to net income,operating income,or cash flow? and do you add any percentage of equity?
What would be a great idea is to publish the return on retained earning, it is an important measure of management capability on using retained earning.

We are using a standard practice, where Return on Sales defined as following
Return On Sales Ratio - indicates how well a company manages its operating expenses. We do NOT add equity. The formula is:

Return On Sales = [Operating Income] / [Total Revenue]

This is a great idea to add Return on Retained Earnings! THANK YOU! I added it to our "to do" list, which means that it is going to be available soon :-)
