December 26, 2010 - Relative Strength Index added to Stock Screener, Stock Analyzer and Watch List.

Dec 25 '10

Relative Strength Index is intended to chart the current and historical strength or weakness of a stock based on the closing prices of a recent trading period.

The RSI is classified as a momentum oscillator, measuring the velocity and magnitude of directional price movements. Momentum is the rate of the rise or fall in price. The RSI computes momentum as the ratio of higher closes to lower closes: stocks which have had more or stronger positive changes have a higher RSI than stocks which have had more or stronger negative changes.

The indicator should not be confused with relative strength. Read more about RSI in the Theory section.

June 20, 2010 - Investment Recovery Time added to Watch List and Market Analysis Reports.

Jun 19 '10

Investment Recovery Time added to Watch List and Market Analysis Reports. Now you can use this value to compare stocks in your Watch List and Market Analysis Reports.

June 13, 2010 - Investment Recovery Time calculation added to the Stock Analyzer.

Jun 12 '10

Investment Recovery Time is the number of years it would take for a company's cumulative earnings (beginning at a base level of $1.00) to equal the stock's current P/E ratio, assuming that the company continues to increase its annual earnings at the projected growth rate. A Recovery Time of six years, for example, means that it would take six years for an investor to recoup the price paid now for $1 of corporate earnings (the P/E ratio).

Just like PE ratio, investors can use the Investment Recovery Time to compare the value of stocks: if one stock has a P/E twice that of another stock, all things being equal (especially the earnings growth rate), it is a less attractive investment. Basically, the smaller Investment Recovery Time is the better investment it is.

Investment Recovery Time shows the correlation between current market price and EPS. Phil Town, the author of "Rule #1" and "Payback Time"said "A payback time of ten years or less is an attractive price. The Payback Time of less than six years is very attractive. Very."

Investment Recovery Time is available in the "Value Price" section of Stock Analyzer.

Mar 11 '10

150 and 200 days Moving Averages added to the 90 days chart.

This small adition allows us to evaluate market condition for a particular stock. If the 150 day (or 30 week) moving average is above the 200 day (or 40 week) moving average then it is technically considered a bull market and if the 150 is below the 200 its a bear market.

Nov 25, 2007 - Watch List Upgrade

Nov 24 '07 Watch List Upgraded.

Debt/FCF Ratio, Value Prices for 5 and 10 years estimates are added to the Watch List. Most importantly, it will show you a warning sign if new financial data released since you set your Value and MOS Price for the Symbol.

Please, be aware that all Value and MOS calculations used “Forward PE” which is analyst estimate of the Forward PE ratio. It means, every time when analysts change their mind, Value and MOS Price numbers will be changed. But not the numbers you set! Technically speaking, analysts can run their own estimates and you can run yours. ONLY if company released new yearly statement, will notify you by placing a warning sign in the Watch List for the symbol where new data is available.

Additional nice feature included into the new version of Watch List – if current Market Price is less than YOURS MOS Price, market price will be highlighted, so you can easily identify symbols with the attractive price.

Oct 22, 2007 - Stock Analyzer algorithms have been changed!

Oct 21 '07

Please, be aware that Stock Analyzer can give you quite a different results for some companies!

Most important change happened in the Growth Rate section. As you know we used to ignore negative values from Growth Rate calculations. It means if the value in the "Raw Data" is negative we could not proper calculate Growth Rate and ignored it. Basically, if the value was negative, the corresponding cell in the Growth Rate table was empty and it did not reflect in the result column, where we show good/fair/bad estimates.

From now on if the value in the "Raw Financial Data" cell is negative we put 0 in to the corresponding Growth Rate cell and Result value for this column/row will be "bad".

Value Price calculations. It was a lot of questions about "pessimistic/optimistic" approach of the Stock Analyzer Calculations. We compile a lot of suggestions, did a lot of tests and come up to the following changes. Instead of taking minimum between 5 and 10 year Equity Growth Rate as Estimated EPS Growth Rate, from now on we take average for all available historical Equity Growth Rates. Sounds like the result is much better and much more reliable. Plus, for each calculation you can find a detail explanation in the footer of the "Value Price" section.

Last, but very important improvement - we added Debt/Free Cash Flow Ratio to the Stock Analyzer. This small but important piece of analysis was missing and you had to go to "Raw Data" section and make sure that Long Term Debt is not to big. Now you can see the Debt/Free Cash Flow Ratio which reflects The Rule on Debt by Phil Town.
